Hi Everyone,
TWRA statement on Golf Club Liquor Licence Application:
Hello Everyone,
Over the last two weeks, the TWRA Committee has been watching the development of the conversation about the application from the Twin Waters Golf Club for a new liquor licence. For those living on the other side of the lake, the issue may be remote. For those nearby, concerns have grown over the inclusion of the term ‘amplified music’ up until midnight in the public notice in front of the club, required by the application process.
A picture of the notice has been included above.
The TWRA has sought information from the Golf Club on the reasons for the application and what it says about the club’s future intentions should the application be successful.
According to the club they are required to update their liquor licence and that the new version includes the possibility of using ‘amplified music,’ the inclusion of which must be advertised when public notices are posted alerting the community to the application and offering the opportunity to raise objections.
The inclusion of the term about music does not necessarily mean that the club has the intention to use amplified music widely, just that if granted, it is permitted under the terms of the licence.
We put this question to the club and they have provided the following statement:
Also should residents require further clarification, the club encourages residents to make contact and discuss further.
Twin Waters Golf Club Statement:
Twin Waters Golf Club is required by liquor licensing laws that any changes to the current license need to be advertised to the community. Twin Waters Golf Club’s current outdated liquor license needs updating to include the words “amplified entertainment”, which would include playing background music in the bar and restaurant via a speaker.
TWGC will not be changing any of its current business practices, or future business practices, we are merely trying to update our current liquor licence to comply with current business practices.
TWGC will still need to comply with all council and new liquor licensing noise restrictions and regulations.
Should residents need any further confirmations please contact the club directly.
