Twin Waters West

Dear TWRA members

As you will be aware, the Public Notification phase for the Twin Waters West Development Application (DA)  from Stockland has commenced and will continue until 29th September.

As with the previous DAs, TWRA proposes to make a Submission to the Council.  A draft of what we are proposing to say can be found here.

As far as the draft TWRA submission is concerned, we are open to suggestions from members that will improve or clarify what we are saying.  Please let us know your thoughts (by Friday 15 September at the latest).  We will consider all suggestions and finalise our submission before the deadline of 29 September.

Please remember also that it will be your individual submissions that are important.  Information on how to do this is provided below.  More information on the TWRA’s position over the full period since 2008 is accessible on our website – www.twra.net.

A submission from TWRA counts as one submission,  which is why are also very keen for our members to also make their submissions to tell Council what you think of the Stockland DA.  The more submissions that Council receives, the more they can be aware of what the Twin Waters community thinks about this DA.  We are not representing that we, TWRA, speak for the whole community because we have not had sufficient time to undertake a full poll of the community to get everyone’s views.  Rather, we are saying to Council that we have used best endeavours to have an informed community about TWW and that we are encouraging individual submissions to get the best feedback for Council.

As you know, TWRA has been engaged with the stakeholders regarding the future of TWW since 2007 when the first DA was lodged by Stockland.  The current DA #3 proposes circa 450 residential lots around a Twin Waters-like landscaped setting that is a vast improvement on the 1200-1400 houses  that were proposed in TWW #1 in 2007.  Our mantra that any development on that site must be “equal to or better than the existing Twin Waters” was accepted by Stockland, the Council and the Planning & Environment Court as the reference for the standard of development that should be undertaken immediately adjacent to Twin Waters.  But now it is up to you, our members, to reflect on all of the information that has been provided and let Council know your views.

This long saga is reaching a key moment and we want everyone to also now have their say to Council.

Thank you to everyone for your input over the years.

Regards,
Sophie Lever,
